FRIENDS AND SHOP

friends of park attwood

If you would like to support the work of the clinic, you can join the Friends of Park Attwood.

Anyone who has a connection with Park Attwood is invited to join - the current group was formed in 2000. Our aim is to support the work of the clinic and the patients and staff. This may be through fund-raising activities and cultural, artistic and social events.

One simple way of supporting the clinic is via the Friends’ Shop. This little shop, within the clinic, is open twice weekly, and is run solely by volunteers from the Friends’ committee. The shop stocks Weleda bodycare products, crafts and jewellery, books, cards, notelets, postcards plus essentials such as toothpaste, soap and tissues that patients may require during their stay. Every item sold in the shop has a link in some way with a person connected to the clinic.

The friends also raise funds by selling Park Attwood Christmas and Greeting Cards painted by artists who have a connection with the clinic. We also have a Park Attwood Recipe Book created by the kitchen staff and a Poetry Book entitled ‘In the Sun Born Over and Over’ - a rich collection of poems in nine chapters, gathered over the life of the clinic to the present day.

Click here for more information"All of the work done by the Friends Group is voluntary. What motivates us? For many people the clinic has been the catalyst for life changing decisions, a quiet place to reflect, a sanctuary for the stormy times of life, a place where true healing can begin. For some, Park Attwood may be the place where they came to understand their illness and perhaps to accept it and make peace with it for the first time. These moments are not forgotten and they lead many of us to turn around and say ‘thank-you and this is how we can help’."
