FUNDING TREATMENT
funding treatment as an in-patient
The doctors recommend the length of stay to suit the needs of each patient. Typically this is between five days and two weeks, though shorter or longer stays are possible. There are three ways to fund your stay:
- privately
As a non-profit distributing, charitable organisation, each year we budget our income and expenditure and work out the number of bed days we expect to provide. From this we calculate the daily bed rate that we need to meet our financial targets. Contact us for details of Park Attwood’s daily in-patient rate.
For those who cannot afford to contribute at this rate, we enter into a discussion to explore other options which could include:
Spreading the payment terms
Looking for alternative funding options such as:
- Family and/or friends
- NHS or Social Services (see below)
- Charitable Institutions: we offer advice from our resources on possible charities related to medical condition, geographical area or past/present occupation. We have well established relationships with some charities but please note that grant-giving charities usually require some form of personal financial statement to demonstrate low earnings/savings
Please note that if you are a resident of the Irish Republic, you may be able to offset the cost of your stay for tax purposes; contact us for more information on this concession.
- nhs or social services
Depending on your Primary Care Trust (PCT), (or the equivalent NHS Board in Scotland), or your local Social Services Department, state funding for treatment at Park Attwood is sometimes available. Currently, Park Attwood holds service contracts with Worcestershire PCT, for the provision of palliative care services, and with West Kent PCT for the treatment of patients referred by the Blackthorn Health Practice in Maidstone. Please contact us for more details of these contracts and the possibility of benefiting from them.
- patient plan
For the last 10 years we have offered our Patient Plan, in the spirit of a not-for-profit organisation, in order that contributors (members) can concentrate upon their recovery without concern about how they will finance their treatment. At present about 1,100 members ensure that this unique service is there when it is needed.
